MagnoLab is a network of enterprises in the textiles industry
established to develop concrete solutions for the sector,
generate value and collaborate in responding to
the demands of today and tomorrow.
A team of professionals from the Italian textiles industry
who combine their know-how to develop
innovation in a structured way.
MagnoLab's mission
Implementing projects in sustainability and the circular economy with a joint, participatory approach among partners.
Generating value by developing innovative products and processes with rapid experimentation cycles, on the basis of the lean management model.
About MagnoLab
The MagnoLab approach:
pilot plants for development of innovation
The strong point of the MagnoLab network of enterprises is a physical network of pilot plants, installed on a single site in Cerrione (Biella), where the companies work on collaborative development of innovative products and processes with rapid, streamlined experimentation processes.
This unique form of organisation concentrates prototyping work for presentation to future
customers and experimentation with product and process solutions for direct transfer to partners’ plants, before proceeding with mass production.
The pilot plants are set up with industrial machinery on which to develop new projects under conditions perfectly representing the reality of the industry, offering an opportunity to work independently of the demands of production and interact directly with partners in the industry.
In this setting, the participating companies can experiment with the processes forming the principal links in the textile industry’s chain of production, from fibre preparation to spinning, weaving, dyeing, finishing and confectioning.
Interaction with the world of
technical education
One of MagnoLab’s truly outstanding and innovative qualities is the ability to establish connections and partnerships with educational institutes in the field of textiles and fashion, in Italy and abroad.
MagnoLab acts as a link between the worlds of education and enterprise, promoting interaction and implementation of concrete projects.
MagnoLab is a unique place combining teaching with research and development in a system as complex as the textiles industry itself, in which students can play an active role in the research projects under way and form connections with the market.
The institution has already established this kind of link with ITS TAM (Istituto Tecnico Superiore Tessile Abbigliamento Moda, a vocational institute for studies in the area of textiles, clothing and fashion), allowing students to learn in specially equipped laboratories in the factory and then develop and concretely test their ideas and solutions on the machines in the pilot plant.
MagnoLab's partner
It is a growing entity, ready to welcome the requests coming from new partners, who are interested in the project and share its mission.
DBT Fibre s.p.a.
De Martini Bayart & Textifibra, also known as DBT FIBER is based in Cerrione (BI).
Founded in 2003 from the merger of four European companies with a long historical tradition in the
textile industry, over the years it has specialized in the ennobling of sustainable and techno fibres,
offering a wide range of carded slivers or worsted tops for classic and fancy yarns. Operating
internationally in sectors ranging from textiles to clothing and furnishings, the company processes
all types of fibre, from natural to artificial and synthetic, blending tradition and innovation to
provide high quality products and create textile solutions for both fashion and industry.
Sustainability is not an abstract idea, but a reality that translates into concrete activities every day,
from the use of natural and artificial fibres made from sustainable cultivation to the recovery of
waste materials from manufacturing, from the production of clean energy using photovoltaics and
geothermal (eliminating all types of atmospheric polluting emissions) to the recycling and
development of 100% of packaging materials. All in the name of an ethical path favouring
environmental protection and the health of workers and consumers.

The selection of raw materials, control over the supply chain and development of yarns through the

innovation and a high level of international recognition, thanks also to the collaboration with fibre
producers, research centres and universities.
The modern yarn-dyeing plant, totally renovated at the beginning of 2018, allows significant
reduction in the use of water and optimization of resources.
